Job summary

Simpson Strong-Tie Company Inc. in Gallatin, NY is seeking a Material Handler to maintain the flow of materials in the Packaging department on the 1st shift (Monday-Thursday, 5:00 am – 3:30 pm) with overtime as needed.

You will move materials, stage bins for nail and screw manufacturing, and ensure accurate placement in the designated rack. This role requires 6 months of forklift/reach-truck experience, strong problem-solving abilities, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• 6 months forklift/reach-truck experience required.
• Ability to solve on-the-spot problems in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the flow of material in and out of the Packaging department (70%).
• Stage bins and wire for nail and screw manufacturing (15%).
• Accurately locate all products removed from the department in the designated rack (10%).
• Verify counts on raw and finished goods taken from the department (5%).

YOU

As a material handler, you will be responsible for maintaining the flow of materials throughout the department in Packaging. This position works 1st shift: Monday-Thursday 5:00 am – 3:30 pm, with overtime as needed.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING(% of Time)

• You will mainly be responsible for the flow of material in, and out of the department. (70%)
• You will be responsible for staging bins/wire for nail and screw mfg. (15%)
• You will be responsible for accurately locating all products removed from the department in the designated rack. (10%)
• You will be responsible for checking and ensuring that all counts are correct on raw and finished goods that are taken from the department. (5%)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, see, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. This role operates large equipment and needs to constantly position self to maintain the operation of equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and heavier weights with proper equipment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Regularly works around moving mechanical parts. Noise level is loud. The job may risk exposure to dust, heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions.

TRAVEL REQUIRED

This job requiresno domestic travel.

WORK STATUS & LOCATION

This full-time, non-exempt position is located in Gallatin.

RELOCATION

Relocation is not available for this position.

PAY

$23.00 - $31.97 / hour
