Job summary

MiTek is seeking a production operator to demonstrate proficiency with automatic equipment, forklifts, and overhead cranes. The role involves setting, changing, troubleshooting, and cleaning stamping dies, and applying knowledge to improve equipment and processes.

The position requires flexibility to work in Largo temporarily and then Zephyrrhills, with relocation as needed. Responsibilities include loading materials, performing first piece inspections, quality control, and monitoring equipment

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED, or 1–3 months of related experience or training.
  • Must have an outstanding safety record and follow all safety policies and procedures.
  • Willing to work overtime whenever necessary; ability to interact professionally with others.

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to move materials from rail cars and trucks.
  • Load/unload slit ribbon material on production line decoilers.
  • Feed slit ribbon material into stamping dies and perform first piece inspection.
  • Perform routine quality control on materials (thickness, gauge, width, coating).
  • Monitor coolant and oil levels on production equipment and adjust as needed.
  • Attend and be punctual for the scheduled shift; overtime may be required.

Job Description

Demonstrate proficiency with the use of automatic equipment, forklifts, and overhead cranes. Demonstrate ability to set, change, troubleshoot, and clean stamping dies. Proactively apply knowledge with improvements to equipment and processes.

This position is temporarily in Largo but will be located in Zephyrrhills in the near future. You must be able to work in both locations until we move to Zephyrrhills.

Essential Functions
  • Operate large forklifts or overhead cranes (with proper training) to load/unload master coils or other materials from rail cars and/or trucks.
  • Load/unload slit ribbon material on production line decoilers as defined by the steel loading process.
  • Correctly feed slit ribbon material into the stamping dies and perform first piece inspection.
  • Perform routine quality control functions on materials (thickness, gauge, width, and coating measurements).
  • Monitor production equipment coolant and oil levels and adjust accordingly.
  • Attendance at work during the regularly scheduled shift is an essential duty. This includes, but is not limited to, the ability to work overtime as required, to be present at work, arrive on time and be at the work station ready for work at the start of the shift.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have an outstanding safety record and follow all safety policies and procedures. Participate in safety training and meetings. Maintain clean and safe work area. Report all injuries/accidents near misses immediately to supervisor or a member of management. Report all unsafe acts and conditions. Use equipment and materials properly. Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness. Monitor own work to ensure quality. Apply feedback to improve performance. Look for ways to improve and promote quality. Meet productivity standards without diminishing quality of work. Strive to increase productivity. Complete work in a timely manner. Take responsibility for own action.
  • Willing to work overtime whenever necessary. Keep commitments. Readily volunteers. Undertake self-development activities. Seek increased responsibilities. Take independent action. Ask for and offer assistance whenever needed. Ability to interact professionally with others, including co-workers, vendors and customers.
