Job summary

Wavepoint Warehousing is seeking a Material Handler to operate forklifts, move and stock merchandise, and assist in packing and restocking pallets. You will inspect inbound and outbound materials, verify quantities, and help prepare orders for shipment.

The role emphasizes safety, accuracy, and efficient pallet handling in a busy warehouse environment. Qualified candidates should have forklift experience, be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 60 lbs, and communicate in English.

Qualifications

  • Prior forklift experience required.
  • Safe driving operations expected in a warehouse setting.
  • Detail-oriented and results-driven attitude.
  • Ability to stand 4–8 hours daily.
  • Ability to walk for short periods during shifts.
  • Lifting 10–60 lbs, frequently and safely.
  • Pushing/pulling repetitive motions may be required.
  • Climbing/balancing tasks around docks and equipment.
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl as needed.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and understand English.

Responsibilities

  • Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts to move, locate, and load merchandise.
  • Inspect trailers and inbound/outbound materials for damage or discrepancies.
  • Verify quantities and lot numbers against manifests and documents.
  • Unload inbound shipments and move products to storage locations.
  • Pull and prepare products for shipment and ensure proper locations.
  • Perform picking duties efficiently to meet service standards.
  • Unstack, pack, shrink wrap and restack pallets as needed for display packs.
  • Maintain safety, inventory control, and security records.
  • Coordinate with supervision to report issues and ensure stock rotation.

Summary:


The Material Handler is responsible for operating a forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, count, unload, and load merchandise within the warehouse. The Material Handler is responsible for the safe and efficient use of industrial vehicles and equipment. The Material Handler is responsible for order selection and inspection, as needed. The incumbent must have a clear understanding of, and adhere to, Wavepoint Warehousing's operational and safety policies and procedures. The incumbent will also be asked to assist in unstacking, packing, shrink wrapping, and restacking pallets of products to make a variety of display packs for customers.

Material Handler Job Description


  • Inspect trailers and inbound materials for signs of shipment damage, contamination, and infestation. Report any damages to supervision.
  • Verify quantities, lot numbers, and production code dates against manifests and driver documents. Report any shortages, misplacements, or discrepancies to supervision.
  • Unload inbound trailer shipments safely and efficiently.
  • Move the product to the appropriate storage locations.
  • Pull and prepare the product for shipment, ensuring that the product comes from the proper locations and that the quantities and lot numbers agree with the picking documents.
  • Perform picking duties in an efficient manner that meets customer service standards.
  • Inspect trailers and outbound materials for signs of damage, contamination, and infestation. Report any damages to supervision.
  • Safely and efficiently move products from the staging or storage areas into trailers.
  • Load, unload, move, stack, and stage products and materials using sit-down and stand-up style forklifts, or other power equipment with various attachments.
  • Inspect equipment daily and verify that it is operational and meets safety requirements, prior to the start of the day’s activity. Report any issues to supervision.
  • Operate all equipment safely and efficiently, following prescribed work methods.
  • Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that inventory control and security are maintained.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation.

Material Handler Requirements:


  • Prior forklift experience

  • Lifting, occasional heavy lifting, overhead lifting, from floor level, weights from 10-60 lbs., and lifting while moving the body in various motions

  • Must be able to speak, read, and understand the English language
