Job description

Overview

Material Handlers work under the supervision of the Shift Supervisor. They are responsible for multiple tasks on the plant floor, which ensure the timely packaging, shipment, and receipt of material into and out of the facility. These tasks must be completed in a safe and efficient manner, without close supervision. Material Handlers must have the ability to work in a team environment, coordinating movements and activities with others.

Material Handlers will work a rotating, 4 on/4 off shift:

• 4 consecutive day shifts (5am to 5pm)
• 4 consecutive days off
• 4 consecutive night shifts (5pm to 5am)

Schedule is subject to change based on shift coverage needs.

Responsibilities

• Loading and unloading materials using overhead crane and forklift.
• Ensuring that finished product is packaged and shipped in accordance with customer's specifications.
• Measuring product dimensions using a tape measure and micrometer.
• Anticipating needs of Line Operators and Equipment Operators to assure continuous line operation.
• Processing shipping and receiving paperwork and entering information into computer systems (data entry).
• Familiarizing with production processes to aid in problem solving efforts.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
• Analytical ability and problem-solving skills.
• Computer literacy.
• Math skills.
• Ability to lift moderate weight (up to 50 lbs).
• Ability to climb ladders.
• Previous manufacturing experience preferred.
