Job summary

Graphic Packaging International, LLC in Perry, GA is seeking a Material Handler to support palletizing, packing, and material movement on the production floor. You will inspect, pack, and stack cartons, operate a pallet jack, stock materials, and keep work areas clean.

Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Self-motivated with minimal supervision on a production floor.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and pack cartons neatly, ensuring only quality products are packed.
  • Assemble corrugated according to customer specifications.
  • Review pallet tags, pallet log, and work instructions for accuracy.
  • Ensure labels are facing out and corrugated is aligned on pallets.
  • Initial tags and check cases to prevent mixing.
  • Operate pallet jack to move pallets to stretch wrap.
  • Restock material for next shift and keep tables stocked with cases.
  • Maintain area cleanliness and assist with make-ready tasks.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and support lean initiatives (5S, TPM, Daily Management).

Job Description

Job functions include but are not limited to the following.

  • Palletizer Assistant/Packer has responsibility to inspect and pack cartons neatly. ONLY Quality Products are to be packed!

  • Assemble corrugated according to customer specifications.

  • Responsible to review and confirm Pallet tags, Pallet log and Work instructions all agree.

  • Confirm labels are secure and facing out, as applicable, when preparing pallets. Also, make sure corrugated is all lined up and matches in appearance.

  • Responsible to initial tags and confirm that they checked each case to prevent mixing, quality check.

  • Responsible for operating Pallet Jack to move completed pallet over to stretch wrap machine and wrap pallet.

  • Responsible to Re-stock enough material for next crew member coming behind, which includes cases stocked and also keeping the tables stocked up with cases. In addition, must keep up speed to not back up the table.

  • Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the area (remove stray cartons, sweep up, etc.) performed during make ready.

  • The Palletizer Assistant/Packer will help with troubleshooting when issues arise.

  • Support and Develop (Lean) initiatives (5s, TPM, Daily Management).

Requirements
Background/Experience:
  • Basic Computer Skills

  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Requirement:
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of GPI Forklift Certification.
Safe Quality Food Responsibilities:
  • Follow all Plant rules, Processes, Hygiene, and Allergens procedures, related to production of Safe Quality Foods.

  • Report to person of authority to record any potentially unsafe conditions which may result in unsafe foods or noncompliance to SQF related procedures.

  • Participate in SQF Root Cause and Corrective Actions (from customer complaints, SQF audits, validation, and verification activities) as required.

  • Follow all procedures related to producing Safe Quality Foods (SQF).

  • Report any potentially unsafe SQF conditions or customer complaints to a person of authority to record and/or correct the situation.

Candidates must be proficient in English, with the ability to communicate, read, and understand work-related instructions and safety procedures and requirements.
