Job summary

Brown & Root Industrial Services is seeking a skilled material handler to load, unload, and move materials within or near a plant or yard. Responsibilities include on-site transfers, record-keeping, and ensuring safety compliance.

The role involves following production schedules, tracking material status, and coordinating with supervisors to meet priorities. A high school diploma and physical capability to lift up to 50 lb are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret instructions and plan work activities.

• Coordinate and expedite material between departments according to schedules.
• Review production schedules to determine material requirements and identify overdue material.
• Requisition material and establish delivery dates according to priorities.
• Inspect delivered material for conformance to specifications.
• Assist with computing material quantities as needed.
• Observe safety rules and perform other duties as required.

SUMMARY

Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site. May move materials manually or using a forklift, dolly, wheelbarrow, or a crane operated crane or hoist. Completes records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities. Track all material for each job.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reads and interprets instructions and documentation and plans work activities.
• Arranges on site transfer of materials and equipment to meet production schedules
• Follows all hazardous waste handling guidelines.
• Completes and maintains manual or computerized records, maintains tools and equipment, and performs various clean-up and housekeeping activities.
• Coordinates and expedites flow of materials between departments and work areas, according to schedules or department priorities.
• Reviews production schedules and related information and confers with department supervisors to determine material requirements to identify overdue materials and to track material
• Requisitions material and establishes sequential delivery dates to departments, according to priorities and material availability
• Examines material delivered to production departments to verify conformance to specifications
• May assist with computing amount of material required to complete job tasks
• Compiles and maintains manual or computerized records, such as material inventory, in-process production reports, and status and location of materials
• Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Compare and see differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects.
• Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
• Make decisions based on measurable criteria.

QUALIFICATIONS

May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.
