Job summary

A leading company in metal fabrication is seeking a dedicated individual for a material handling role. The position involves moving materials, operating equipment, and ensuring efficient warehouse operations. Candidates should be detail-oriented, able to lift heavy materials, and possess basic computer skills. Previous experience in shipping or material handling is preferred, but not required.

Job description

ROLE AND RESPONSIBLITIES

• Move materials and/or parts to designated area for processing.
• Manually or mechanically load or unload materials from pallets, skids, platforms, cars, lifting devices or other transport vehicles.
• Responsible for material handling throughout the shop and yard.
• Gather material, products, ship-loose parts.
• Responsible for loading and assisting during the shipping process.
• Maintain the yard and staging areas to ensure inventory and parts are in proper designated areas.
• Keep work area clean, neat and orderly to ensure a safe and efficient workplace.
• Order fulfillment: Packing orders, generating shipping labels, working with delivery workers and ensuring the quality of the shipment/order.
• Organizing and improving warehouse efficiency and minor maintenance.
• Safely operates lift truck, forklifts, cranes and other equipment as needed. Must be able to operate safety equipment and use safe work habits while performing all job functions.
• Perform clerical and physical tasks in the shipment, movement and storage of goods.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Continual use of your hands, considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling materials.
• Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 lbs. without physical restrictions.
• Must always wear appropriate PPE such as safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves and safety toe boots.
• Able to work in hot and cold environments during summer and winter months.

PREFERRED SKILLS

• Detail-oriented and well-organized.
• Must have basic computer knowledge and math skills and be able to write routine paperwork.
• Must be able to understand and communicate both verbally and in written form in English since instructions, labels and other documents are in English.
• Able to work with minimal supervision.
• Resourceful with good problem solving skills.
• Experience building relationships and negotiating with vendors

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
