Job summary

Waste Management is seeking a Material Handler for our Mount Vernon, IL facility. The role involves moving recyclable material through the plant, grading materials, and determining sale destinations.

You will operate equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks to move goods, load and strap items for transport, and perform administrative data entry related to part numbers, quantities, and locations. The position emphasizes safety and accuracy, with tasks including tagging, labeling, and

Job Description
I. Job Summary

Material Handlers move recyclable material through the facility, conducts material grading and evaluates for sale destination.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Moves material through the facility with the use of material handling equipment (i.e. forklift, pallet jack, hoist, crane) as required.
  • Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.
  • Uses the computer to dispense and receive information such as part numbers, quantities, locations, comments, etc.
  • Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area.
  • Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases, bales, or other containers.
  • Completes paperwork to properly document work performed.
III. Qualifications
A. Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D
  • No experience Zero (0) to four (4) years previous experience (in addition to education requirements)

Pay

The expected base pay range for this on‑site position is $18/hour . This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
