Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a dependable Material Handler to support inbound and outbound shipping operations in Knoxville, TN. The role involves loading/unloading, cataloging stock, and preparing items for production by pulling parts and creating kits.

Responsibilities include inspecting incoming materials, labeling, packing for shipment, and coordinating outgoing loads by truck, van, or rail. A high school diploma and forklift/crane certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; required or preferred depending on role.
• Forklift Certification preferred; Crane Certification preferred.
• Ability to read work orders, pick lists, bills of lading, and shipping documents.
• Ability to utilize a tape measure down to 1/16 inch precision.
• Basic math involving whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload materials for inbound or outbound shipments.
• Move, log, organize and catalog material.
• Pick material for production jobs and create kits.
• Handle materials including rail, castings, plates and other items.
• Unload, receive, inspect, label and store incoming materials.
• Pull parts and assemble kits for production areas.
• Move materials around shop and yard as needed.
• Package parts for shipment using hand tools, shrink wrap, and pallets.
• Coordinate shipment of outgoing finished products by various transport modes.
• Load flatbeds, vans, and rail cars with finished goods.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleanup of the yard area.
• Follow work orders, pick lists, bills of lading, and shipping documents.

Responsibilities

• The Material Handler is responsible for loading and unloading material for inbound or outbound trucks.
• Move, log, organize and catalog material.
• Pick material for production jobs.
• Handle materials including rail, castings, plates and other materials.
• Unload, receive, inspect, label and put away incoming materials.
• Pull parts and make "kits" for production areas.
• Move materials throughout the shop and yard area as needed.
• Use hand tools, shrink wrap, banding, crating and palletizing equipment to package parts for shipment.
• Coordinate shipment of outgoing finished products.
• Load flatbeds, vans and rail cars with outgoing finished goods.
• Perform routine maintenance and cleanup of yard area.
• Follow work orders, pick lists, bills of lading and other shipping documents.

Requirements

• High School graduate or GED preferred
• Forklift and Crane certification preferred
• Ability to read work orders, pick lists, bills of lading, and shipping documents
• Ability to utilize a tape measure down to at least a 1/16th
• Basic mathematical calculation experience in adding and subtracting whole numbers, fractions and decimals
