Job summary

Interstates is seeking a Material Handler to join our Manufacturing Team in Sioux Center, IA. The role supports Electrical Assemblers by ensuring materials are available, moving and tracking supplies, and maintaining a safe, productive shop environment.

Responsibilities include receiving and organizing materials, operating forklifts, and helping with shipping and inventory. Minimal travel; you’ll work in a busy, hands-on facility with a focus on quality and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required or equivalent.
  • Experience in material handling, inventory, manufacturing, or warehouse preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, procedures, and schedules.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize multiple requests and support multiple team members.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating forklift or material-handling equipment preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet insurance requirements.
  • Occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds.

  • Assist with shipping/receiving and resolve material or shipment issues.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Interstates is seeking a Material Handler to join our Manufacturing Team in Sioux Center, IA. The Material Handler will work closely with Electrical Assemblers in our Panel Shop to ensure materials, components, and supplies are available when and where they are needed. This role is responsible for accurately moving, organizing, receiving, and tracking materials while supporting a safe, efficient, and productive manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities
  • Pull, stage, and deliver materials and electrical components to Electrical Assemblers based on production needs.
  • Load, unload, move, and organize materials throughout the Panel Shop and manufacturing facility.
  • Receive, inspect, verify, and record incoming materials and report discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and track material movement within the facility.
  • Prepare finished panels and assemblies for shipment, including securing and protecting products from damage.
  • Operate forklifts and other material‑handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain an organized inventory of materials, parts, shipping supplies, and other manufacturing resources.
  • Work closely with Electrical Assemblers and Production Leads to prioritize material needs and help keep production moving.
  • Support shipping and receiving activities and assist with resolving material or shipment issues.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Previous material handling, inventory, manufacturing, or warehouse experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, procedures, and schedules.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple requests and support multiple team members.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience operating a forklift or other material‑handling equipment preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet Interstates vehicle insurance requirements.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds.
Work Environment

This position works primarily in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels and may occasionally involve exposure to outside weather conditions. The Material Handler will work around electrical equipment, manufacturing materials, forklifts, and other equipment while following established safety standards and procedures.

Location & Travel

The position is located in Sioux Center, IA. Minimal travel is required.
