Job summary

Interstates in Sioux Center, IA is seeking a Manufacturing Safety Technician to be a visible safety partner at our facility. You will identify hazards, reinforce safe work practices, and partner with plant leadership to address unsafe conditions.

This role requires a Bachelor’s in Occupational Health or related experience, OSHA 30-hour, CPR/First Aid, and strong communication to influence safety outcomes in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health, Safety, or a related field; or two years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • OSHA 30-hour training.
  • Knowledge of OSHA General Industry standards.
  • Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Strong communication, organization, judgment, and follow-through.
  • Ability to build relationships and influence safe outcomes without direct supervisory authority.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, and SharePoint.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the day-to-day safety partner for the manufacturing facility.
  • Walk the facility to observe work practices, identify hazards, and reinforce safe behaviors.
  • Partner with plant leadership to address unsafe conditions, equipment, and behaviors.
  • Assist with incident and unsafe-act investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Support safety training, coaching, and communication.
  • Coordinate safety audits, documentation, reporting, and follow-up.
  • Help ensure safety equipment and supplies are available.
  • Monitor plant injuries and incidents in partnership with Safety Management.
  • Participate in safety meetings and communicate safety successes, concerns, and improvement opportunities.

Sioux Center, IA | $30-$34/hour | Monday–Friday with occasional Saturdays | Minimal travel

What you bring

Preferred qualifications
  • Internship experience or professional experience in safety, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Construction standards and NFPA 70E.
  • Experience with safety trainings, safety audits, incident investigations, or corrective actions.
What success looks like

You’ll help teams recognize risks before incidents occur, understand the “why” behind safety expectations, and take practical steps to work safely. Your visibility, communication, and follow-through will help strengthen the facility’s safety culture.

Work environment

This role involves regular standing, walking, sitting, talking, and hearing. You may occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and lift or move up to 50 pounds.
