Job summary

Allegion is hiring a Material Handler in Indiana. You will receive, stage, issue, and deliver materials to support production and customer orders, safely operate pallet jacks, and ensure accurate ERP/MRP inventory entries.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, stage, issue, and deliver materials to support production schedules and customer orders.
  • Safely operate pallet jacks and other material handling equipment.
  • Load and unload materials from trucks and containers.
  • Enter inventory transactions into ERP/MRP systems or scanning devices.
  • Perform cycle counts, assist with physical inventories, and report discrepancies.
  • Inspect incoming materials for damage or discrepancies and maintain inventory documentation.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, use PPE, and practice proper lifting techniques.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas and store tools and equipment.
  • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, engineers, and quality control to resolve issues.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by overtime when needed and cross-training in other areas.
  • Adapt to new processes or technologies as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Material Handler is responsible for the efficient and accurate handling and movement of materials to support production operations and inventory control. This role involves receiving, storing, staging, issuing, and moving materials while maintaining inventory accuracy and adhering to safety and quality standards. The Material Handler operates material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks, utilizes ERP/MRP systems for data entry and inventory management, and collaborates with team members and other departments to ensure smooth material flow.

What You Will Do

  • Safely operate pallet jacks and other manual material handling equipment.
  • Load and unload materials from trucks and containers.
  • Accurately enter inventory transactions into ERP/MRP systems or scanning devices.

  • Demonstrate flexibility by working overtime when needed, cross-training in other areas, and adapting to new processes or technologies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What You Need To Succeed
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED
  • Familiarity with material handling and material movement.
  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Ability to use proper lifting techniques and material movement equipment effectively.
  • Ability to be flexible in role, adjusting to new processes, technologies, or production requirements.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to handle material and parts.
  • Perform repetitive motions (bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, lifting, gripping, and grasping with hands).
  • Standing Duration: Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per shift.

  • Ability to work in environments with noise, chemicals, dust, sharp objects, moving/rotating mechanical parts, and temperature extremes.
