ABOUT THE POSITION

We are seeking a motivated Material Handler to join our team. This role involves executing safety standards, achieving daily productivity goals while meeting quality requirements, performing routine maintenance, and assisting with non-routine maintenance tasks.

• Follow Triple-S safe methods of work at all times, and immediately report any unsafe conditions to your supervisor.
• Safely move steel to and from storage or production areas, using hand tools, forklifts, overhead cranes, or other equipment. Attach slings, hooks, or other devices to lift material and guide loads; climb onto vehicles to tie down and release material being loaded. This is a daily activity.
• Lift and carry up to 50 pounds for up to 25 feet; exert 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects, reach, squat, stand, walk up to 5 miles per day, and climb stairs, ladders, and equipment while wearing personal protective equipment as necessary.
• Apply proper bundling techniques.
• Configure loads based on planned routes, including multiple stops.
• Maximize load capacity on trailers without compromising safety.
• Maintain and operate all assigned tools and equipment safely, including tape measures, calipers, hammers, pallet trucks, banding machines, micrometers, beam hooks, plate lifting clamps, forklifts, overhead cranes, and personal protective equipment.
• Identify safety issues related to equipment and report them promptly.
• Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions, including precipitation, cold, heat, high winds, and turbulence. The Material Handler will be exposed to typical local weather conditions.
• Maintain spatial awareness to move safely around a busy work environment with many moving objects.
• Judge distances accurately to monitor ongoing activities of other workers and equipment.
• Attend all required company meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material/equipment needs.
• Meet or exceed minimum productivity levels safely.
• Plan and organize work activities independently; work alone or in a team.
• Develop knowledge of product and inventory control techniques and procedures.
• Maintain communication with other departments regarding routing, safety, and customer relations.
• Demonstrate basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
• Strong customer relations skills may be required.

Physical Requirements

• Use hands/fingers to handle, feel, talk, or hear.
• Occasionally stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.
• Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 40 pounds occasionally.
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
