Job summary

Southland Steel Fabricator's, Inc. in Greensburg, LA seeks a Production Worker to move and organize materials, follow production schedules, and assist with prep related to galvanizing.

You will work with the Production Supervisor to ensure a smooth flow of materials through the plant and help meet daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals. Requirements include forklift experience, a High School Diploma or GED (preferred), regular attendance, and the ability to work 10-hour shifts in all weather

Responsibilities

• Operate overhead cranes and forklifts as necessary.
• Follow company production and safety procedures.
• Clean, package and finish materials after galvanizing.
• Track all materials on site (company stock and customer materials).
• Keep the yard and materials neat and organized.
• Complete other tasks assigned by Supervisor or General Manager.
• Communicate with General Manager and Supervisors as needed.

• Base Pay $16.00 - $20.00 / Hour
• Employee Type FT Non-Exempt

GENERAL SUMMARY:

This position is responsible for numerous production related duties that include but are not limited to moving and organizing materials, following production schedules, and prepping,

This position will work closely with the Production Supervisor(s) to ensure an organized and efficient flow of materials through the plant while meeting established daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals.

DESIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND/OR SKILLS:

• Experience using forklift required
• Prior Manufacturing experience preferred
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent preferred
• Regular and timely attendance is required

JOB DUTIES:

• Operating overhead cranes and/or forklifts as necessary
• Following company production and safety procedures
• Cleaning, packaging and finishing materials after the galvanizing process is complete
• Tracking all materials that are on site, both company stock and customer materials
• Keeping the yard and materials neat and organized
• Completing all other reasonable tasks assigned by the Supervisor or the General Manager
• Communicating with the General Manager, and Supervisor(s) as necessary

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Valid driver's license
• Ability to communicate effectively both written and orally is mandatory
• Must possess problem solving and communication skills
• Must be team oriented, motivated and dependable
• Ability to work 10-hour shifts, or until the job is complete, outside in all weather conditions
• Ability to multitask and stay focused in a fast-paced work environment
• Ability to occasionally move / lift items weighing up to 100 lbs.
• Effectively and safely utilizes ladders, man lifts, forklifts, overhead cranes, etc. Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
• Must be able to work in an open environment for long shifts (including weekends) exposed to extreme temperatures, standing entire shift
• Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources
• The worker is required to have visual acuity to make general observations of facilities or structures

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be at least 18 years old
• Adhere to all Southland Steel Fabricator's, Inc. Safety Rules, Policies, and Procedures
• Attend all required safety meetings
• Inspect the tools and equipment prior to work each day to ensure they are free of defects
• Use hand and power tools safely at all times with correct guards in place
• Wear personal protective equipment in accordance with policy and adequate for specific tasks
