Job summary

Sportsman’s Guide, Inc. is seeking a Material Handler to support our distribution center operations. You will accurately receive, store, pick, and ship products, ensuring orders are filled on time and inventory is tracked using the warehouse management system.

In this role, you will operate forklifts and similar equipment, maintain clean and safe work areas, and assist with cycle counts and safety procedures. Reliable, detail-oriented teammates flourish here.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required or equivalent.
  • 1+ year of warehouse experience preferred.
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification required.
  • Experience with RF scanners and WMS strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against POs and packing lists.
  • Safely load/unload trailers using material handling equipment.
  • Pick, pack, and stage orders according to systems instructions.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy with proper labeling and data entry in WMS.
  • Replenish picking locations and keep stock organized.
  • Prepare products for shipment with proper wrapping and palletizing.

Job description

The Material Handler plays a key role in the daily operations of the distribution center by accurately receiving, storing, picking, and shipping products. This position ensures that materials flow efficiently through the warehouse and that orders are fulfilled accurately and on time to meet customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Receive incoming shipments, inspect for damage or discrepancies, and verify quantities against purchase orders and packing lists.

Safely load and unload trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other material‑handling equipment.

Accurately pick, pack, and stage orders according to pick lists or system instructions.

Maintain inventory accuracy through proper labeling, location management, and data entry into the warehouse management system (WMS).

Replenish picking locations and ensure stock is organized and easily accessible.

Prepare products for shipment by securely wrapping, labeling, and palletizing goods.

Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits to ensure data accuracy.

Follow all safety policies and procedures, including proper handling of equipment and materials.

Keep aisles, docks, and work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.

Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily shipping and receiving goals.

Identify and report any quality issues, shortages, or system errors to management.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required.

1+ year of experience in a warehouse or distribution center environment preferred.

Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification required.

Experience with RF scanners and warehouse management systems (WMS) strongly preferred.

Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs and stand or walk for long periods.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Dependable, punctual, and able to work in a fast‑paced team environment.

Basic math and computer skills (inventory entry, scanning, data tracking).

Climate‑controlled or ambient warehouse environment depending on location.

Exposure to varying temperatures and warehouse noise levels.

Requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting.

Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
