Job summary

Flex-N-Gate Detroit is seeking a material handler for moving and stocking materials within the work cell and supporting production with safe hi-lo operation. Responsibilities include reading part numbers, inspecting materials, and maintaining clean and organized work areas.

The position requires hi-lo certification, basic arithmetic, and adherence to ISO/TS16949:2002, ISO14001:2004, and OSHA standards within a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for moving material in & out of the workstations, storage & retrieval of material, and safe operation of a hi-lo.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Follows work instructions and oral direction to understand what material needs to be moved
• Safely operates the hi-lo while moving material to support production in the work cell.
• Stocks the work cell with required material and packaging to meet production needs.
• Removes trash as needed, empties hoppers and cardboard containers.
• Able to read part numbers and labels to correctly stock material.
• Empties grinder on a regular basis and cleans grinder during a mold or color change.
• Understands where recycling areas are located and uses as required, depending upon material.
• Performs general housekeeping duties as required in work areas.
• Assists in setup of workstation during a mold change or as required.
• Responsible for maintaining ISO/TS16949:2002 compliance within the manufacturing discipline (material control, material handling).
• Responsible for maintaining ISO14001:2004 compliance with the manufacturing discipline (material control, material handling)
• Responsible for maintaining OSHA compliance.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Must have hi-lo certification
• Has the responsibility to aid in the provision of a safe and clean work environment. This will be accomplished by participating in the safety process. Examples of participation would include, but not limited to conducting internal safety audits, investigation of accidents and communication of safety related information.
