The Assembly/Collation Material Handler supports the day-to-day material needs of the Assembly/Collation Department. This role pulls the correct parts and materials for scheduled jobs, stages those materials to the correct staging lane, wraps and routes finished pallets to their required destination, and keeps the production floor clear of finished product. The role keeps Assembly/Collation lines supplied and organized so production can run without material delays.
First Shift: Monday - Thursday 7:00am - 5:30pm, OT as needed
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Material Pulling & Staging
- Retrieve pick tickets for jobs posted on the department board.
- Pull the parts and materials required for each job from the warehouse, per the pick ticket.
- Stage pulled materials in the correct staging lane shown on the pick ticket. The Line Lead moves the parts from the staging lane to the line.
- Wrap pallets once a job is completed.
- Route completed pallets to the correct destination by job type: Updates and Rollouts to FedEx/UPS Outbound; Launches to COL-Outbound.
- Move parts left over after jobs and New Door Builds to COL-RTI.
- Move material around the department to where it is needed to support the jobs.
- Keep the production floor clear of finished product.
- Return finished product to racks as required.
- Return leftover / unused parts to racks, to COL-RTI, or to the Repair and Maintenance Department after a job is complete.
General Support
- Handle the day-to-day movement of material to support the department’s needs for parts and material required for the jobs.
System Transactions & Scangun
- Verify pulled parts against the pick ticket (correct part number and quantity).
- Move parts using a scangun; part / material movement is transacted with the scangun.
- Perform inventory system transactions (e.g., location and move transactions) using the scangun in the ERP system (Syteline).
- Use assigned scangun credentials; scangun credentials are assigned to the Material Handler and the transactions are recorded in the ERP system (Syteline).
- If required inventory is not there (shortage), report it to the Assembly/Collation Coordinator. The Coordinator reviews whether the material transactions were executed correctly and contacts the Inventory Clerk if the issue exceeds that; issues are communicated to the Supervisor.
Requirements:
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow all safety training received during orientation and any applicable on-site safety requirements.
- Be trained and cleared / certified before operating powered equipment (e.g., forklift or pallet jack) used to move material and pallets.
Supervision Received:
- Reports to the Assembly/Collation Supervisor.
- Reports shortages / inventory problems to the Assembly/Collation Coordinator.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Experience with material handling equipment.
- No prior certifications required; required equipment certifications are provided during orientation.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly, and heavier loads with assistance or equipment.
- Able to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and twist to pull, stage, and put away material.
- Able to push and pull loaded pallets and carts.
- Able to safely operate material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jack) as assigned.
