Job summary

Univar Solutions is seeking a Material Handler to support tank farm operations in our Chattanooga facility. You will manage shipping and receiving of bulk chemicals, inspect equipment, maintain stock, and ensure compliance with labeling and shipping regulations.

The role requires the ability to lift heavy items, operate forklifts, and follow safety protocols. The position offers a physically demanding but rewarding environment with opportunities for growth within a leading global chemical

Qualifications

• Experience operating an industrial powered lift truck or forklift.
• Knowledge of cGMP requirements for FDARP applicable to the facility.
• Ability to use and maintain respiratory protection equipment.
• Willingness to learn proper methods for handling hazardous materials and wastes.
• Physical ability to lift and carry at least 100 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods and pass drug tests.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient operation of the tank farm facilities.
• Shipping and receiving of bulk chemicals in the tank farm and processing customer orders.
• Ensure compliance with State and Federal labeling and shipping laws on merchandise.
• Inspect and maintain tank farm equipment and facilities for good operation.
• Maintain warehouse stocks, supplies, and equipment and clean aisles.

Position Title:

Material Handler

What You’ll Do:

Provide efficient operation of the tank farm facilities.

• Shipping and receiving of bulk chemicals in the tank farm; provides services for the prompt and accurate filling, packing, and shipping of tank farm customer orders.
• Ensures compliance with all State and Federal labeling and shipping laws and regulations on merchandise shipped from warehouse.
• Inspects and checks tank farm equipment and facilities to ensure that all equipment is in good operating condition.
• Ensures the maintenance and protection of warehouse stocks, supplies, and equipment.
• Make monthly inspection of plant fire control system.
• maintain warehouse stocks after they are received and ensures that aisles and warehouse floor is cleaned and cleared of merchandise.
• prepare a monthly list of all empty containers, un-repairable pallets, distressed stock, and miscellaneous non-usable materials and submit to Warehouse Manager.
• Exchange worker with warehouse sections as needed
• Complere inspections and paperwork associated with hazardous waste generation and waste pickup transport.
• Any problems with regard to tank farm operation should be brought to the attention of Warehouse or Operation's Manager

What You’ll Need:

• Ability to operate an industrial powered lift truck or forklift according to company procedures and governmental regulations
• Knowledge of cGMP requirements as it pertains to FDARP as applicable to the facility
• Ability to use and maintain respiratory protection equipment
• Ability to learn proper methods for handling hazardous materials and wastes, with training.
• Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:
• Physical ability to lift and carry at least 100 pounds
• Physical ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
• Test negative on the company’s drug tests
• Exposure to fumes, dirt, noise and hazardous chemicals on a daily basis. May require safety equipment and/or precautions
