Job summary

SURGE Staffing is seeking an experienced Material Handler to support production, shipping, and receiving operations. This role will move, stage, inspect, and prepare materials and finished products while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Overhead crane experience is required. The position involves operating overhead cranes, forklifts, combis, and pallet jacks, and reading and following load plans and shipping documents.

Qualifications

Material Handler

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Material Handler to support production, shipping, and receiving operations. This role is responsible for accurately moving, staging, inspecting, and preparing materials and finished products while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Overhead crane experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Pull, verify, and deliver materials and supplies to production areas.
• Move finished products from production lines to shipping/receiving.
• Inspect inbound and outbound products for accuracy and integrity.
• Prepare finished products for shipment, including pulling, packing, crating, loading, and securing.
• Build pallets and crates for finished products.
• Read and follow truck load plans, packing lists, production plans, and other shipping documents.
• Operate material-handling equipment, including overhead cranes, forklifts, combis, and pallet jacks.
• Document materials, quantities, and storage or delivery locations.
• Maintain clean, organized loading areas and equipment.
• Follow all workplace safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Previous overhead crane experience — REQUIRED.
• Material handling, shipping/receiving, or warehouse experience preferred.
• Experience operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment preferred.
• Ability to read and understand production, shipping, and load documentation.
