Job summary

BorgWarner is seeking a Materials Handler at the Bellwood plant to ensure smooth material movement and replenishment signals. You will operate forklifts, use SAP and handheld scanners, and support inventory counts while following safety and work-area rules.

Requires a High School Diploma or GED, forklift licenses, and ability to read and write English. Eligible candidates must meet internal and external bid criteria as described.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
• Must possess and retain a license to operate a standard forklift, walkie lift, stand-up forklift, tugger, and be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to read and write English.

Responsibilities

• Ensure proper flow of material and replenishment signals at the Bellwood plant.
• Move materials to Kanban areas and central warehouse; support inventory audits and cycle counts.
• Use SAP, handheld scanners, and routing tickets to execute material planning tasks.
• Follow all safety and control system rules and keep work area clean and orderly.
• Load and unload materials safely and communicate issues across shifts.

Job description

• Perform all assigned duties to ensure the proper flow of material and material replenishment signals through the Bellwood plant.
• Must possess and retain a license to operate a standard forklift, walkie lift, stand-up forklift, tugger, and be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Work from routing tickets, inventory slips, inventory reference sheets, production schedules, schedule boards, kanban systems, pick lists, and other material planning and control systems.
• Take direction from the Materials Leadership team (team leaders, supervisors & manager) for the assigned work area including the following primary duties:
• Complete the forklift safety checklist at the beginning of each shift.
• Load material handling equipment by safe/stated weight distribution and control regulations.
• Move materials to and from the appropriate Kanban areas/supermarkets/central warehouse. Note, some materials such as paper facings are placed on carts and must be moved by hand.
• Assist in moving material to aid in inventory cycle counts and general SAP inventory audits.
• Assist the cycle counting team in verifying the weight counts of material.
• Verify delivery of components via the use of handheld inventory scanners.
• Communicate work issues and status with other shifts through team leaders and face-to-face communication.
• Keep material handling equipment clean and notify the supervisor of equipment operating problems.
• Use stand-up forklift, and reach truck, handheld inventory scanner, and SAP.
• Follow all safety rules, material planning & control system rules, and keep the work area in a clean and orderly condition.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Degree Requirements: Must have a High School Diploma or GED

Pay Range: $19.63-28.40

Internal Candidates: Eligibility to Bid

Employees with less than one year of service are only eligible to bid on higher-paying labor grade positions.

Employees with more than one year of service will receive first consideration.

Employees in a Disciplinary Step 1 are eligible to bid on any job.

Employees in Step 2 are eligible to bid on any job after 1 year.

Employees in Step 3 are eligible to bid on any job after 1 year.

If an employee accepted a new position, they cannot bid on the same or lower paying labor grade for 1 year.
