Job summary

Crane Aerospace & Electronics in Auburn, CA is seeking a Material Handler to receive, move, stock, and ship production parts and materials. You will help ensure on-time delivery by providing the right parts at the right time on the production floor.

The role requires 1+ years in manufacturing, familiarity with warehousing and lean principles, and strong dexterity. You will work in a standards-based environment and may use manufacturing software.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of relevant manufacturing experience.
  • Warehousing and materials; lean principles familiarity.
  • Outstanding manual dexterity; ability to concentrate on repetitive tasks; ability to follow detailed work instructions; ability to understand standard work instructions.
  • Math skills to perform basic calculations; strong verbal communication; proficient with MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory control by following established work instructions and processes.
  • Move materials to and from receiving, production areas and shipping by hand, using sorting bins and carts, or other equipment.
  • Unpack, receive, and stock materials into storeroom location(s).
  • Read work orders to determine material and equipment needs for production cell work.
  • Issue critical materials to production cells.
  • Complete the cycle count process for Value Stream; escalate variances as needed.
  • Respond to unplanned issues with internal customers in a timely manner.
  • Aid and/or backfill coworkers as needed to complete daily tasks.
  • Change part stocking methods to better facilitate production needs.
  • Perform root cause investigation on variances in cycle counts.
  • Ensure export compliance rules.

Job Summary:

The Material Handler is responsible for receiving, moving, storing, counting, tracking, issuing, and shipping a variety of production parts, materials and supplies. The production floor relies on this position to provide the right parts and materials at the right time in order to meet on-time-delivery goals.

Essential Functions:
  • Maintain accurate inventory control by following established work instructions and processes.
  • Move materials to and from receiving, production areas and shipping by hand, using sorting bins and carts, or other equipment.
  • Unpack, receive, and stock materials into storeroom location(s).
  • Read work orders to determine material and equipment needs for production cell work.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Experience: 1+ years of relevant manufacturing experience
  • Knowledge: Warehousing and materials; Familiar with lean principles
  • Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated outstanding manual dexterity; Demonstrated ability to concentrate on repetitive tasks; Demonstrated ability to accurately follow detailed work instructions; Demonstrated ability to understand standard work instructions; Math skills to perform basic calculations; Outstanding verbal communication skills; Proficient with MS Office
  • Education/Certification: High School diploma or equivalent
  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Working Conditions:

Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment

Manufacturing operations may require the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, gowning, masks, hearing protectors, heel/wrist straps and any other required PPE

May be exposed to unusual environmental conditions such as loud noises, cold temperatures, confined spaces, dust or fumes

Standing: 50-75% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task

Sitting: 25-50% *percentage is approximate and may vary depending on work task

Lifting (in pounds): up to 35 pounds

Mental/Visual: use of computer, eye-loop

Workspace: stand up computer workstation and kitting carts
