Overview

The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers make a difference in people's lives. Through the collection and resale of gently used goods we are able to provide the financial support to assist men and women with a variety of social and spiritual afflictions. The in-residence rehabilitation program focuses on basic necessities with every man or woman being provided a clean and healthy living environment, good food, work therapy, leisure time activities, group and individual counseling, and spiritual direction. All our effort is focused on developing life skills and a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. More than just a job, each member of the team contributes to recycling goods that literally recycle and repair broken lives.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Keep work area clean and in order at all times.
  • Ensure the safe and expeditious movement of merchandise in and out of warehouse in cooperation with other warehouse personnel.
  • Do not allow any items to be set aside for any individual.
  • Do not allow any sales to be made in the warehouse or dock area.
  • Do not allow unauthorized personnel in the warehouse or dock area.
  • Responsible for loading and unloading of truck assigned and others as requested.
  • Provide assistance to Thrift Store personnel when delivering items to ensure proper placement and location within the store (i.e., hampers to processing area, furniture placed properly on sales floor, removal of trash, etc.).
  • Serve all customers and donors in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Handle all donations with care.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the dock, warehouse, bathrooms, sidewalks, and parking areas daily.
  • Safeguard all donated materials and assigned equipment.
  • Bale ragouts and cardboard as assigned.
  • Assist as required with sorting room operation.
  • Cross train in all sorting room functions under the guidance of the Sorting Room Supervisor.
  • Assist in cleaning and general maintenance of sorting room area.
  • Categorize and box seasonal clothing, bric, and shoes.
  • Sort and clean all saleable merchandise daily as required.
  • Operate forklift as needed, after receiving proper training and certification, observing all safety regulations.
  • This position will support the work therapy program component of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers by providing beneficiaries with an example of professional conduct and work habits.
  • Other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor, Administrator, or other management.
