Material Coordinator, 3rd Shift

Location: York, PA

Shift: 3rd Shift

Pay: $23.19 – $27.39 per hour + $1.50 shift premium

Basic Function

Sets up and operates metal fabricating machines such as brakes, shears and presses, to cut, bend, straighten, and form metal plates, sheets, and structural shapes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Reads and interprets blueprints, engineering specifications, and shop orders to determine machine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation.
• Selects, positions, and secures tooling and fixtures onto the machine.
• Positions and clamps stops, guides, and turntables.
• Adjusts controls to set and regulate machining factors such as pressure, depth of ram stroke, adjustment rolls, blade angle, and machine speed.
• Locates and marks bending or cutting lines and reference points on the workpiece.
• Positions the workpiece against stops and guides or aligns layout marks with dies or cutting blades.
• Starts the machine and observes operation to reposition the workpiece, change dies, or adjust machine settings for multiple or successive passes.
• Inspects or measures work.
• Labels parts and moves them to proper storage locations.
• Documents deviations from prints or specifications and takes appropriate corrective action.
• Wears all required PPE.
• Trains new or existing employees, if necessary.
• Reports work‑related injuries and near misses to supervision.
• Corrects or reports unsafe conditions observed within the plant.

Qualifications

• One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to present information effectively in one‑on‑one and small group situations.
• Mathematical ability: add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure; compute rates, percentages, and interpret bar graphs; read scales and vernier calipers.
• Reasoning ability: apply common sense to carry out instructions; solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Computer skills: knowledge of CNC software and ability to use a PC.
• Forklift license required in some departments; must be obtained within three (3) months.

Work Environment

The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, vibration, and loud noise levels.

Hiring Hourly Range

$23.19 – $27.39 per hour (rate determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location, and alignment with market data).
