RCD Components Inc. in Beltsville, MD is seeking a Materials Coordinator to manage receiving, storing, issuing, moving, and shipping materials, ensuring accurate inventory records and on-time availability for production.

The role collaborates with Operations, Production, Purchasing, and Planning to support material flow, scheduling, and customer delivery requirements, reporting to the Plant Supervisor. A strong candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple priorities

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years in shipping, receiving, inventory control, or materials coordination.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP and inventory transactions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to safely operate warehouse equipment (forklifts when certified).

Responsibilities

  • Receive, inspect, verify, and process incoming materials, components, and supplies.
  • Package, prepare, and process outbound shipments.
  • Generate and maintain shipping and receiving documentation.
  • Perform inventory transactions and cycle counts.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages, discrepancies, or replenishment needs.
  • Coordinate movement of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Support production scheduling by ensuring material availability.
  • Work with Purchasing on material requirements and supplier deliveries.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Maintain organized inventory locations.
  • Operate material handling equipment as required.
  • Ensure compliance with quality, inventory procedures, and safety.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

We currently have an opening for a Materials Coordinator in our TTE facility, located in Beltsville, MD. This position is critical to the success of the organization and supports the efficient flow of materials through shipping, receiving, inventory control, material planning, and scheduling coordination activities. The Materials Coordinator works closely with Operations, Production, Purchasing, and Planning teams to ensure materials are received, stored, tracked, and available to meet production schedules and customer delivery requirements. This role reports directly to the Plant Supervisor.

The ideal candidate for this position should be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities within a manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will possess strong inventory and material handling knowledge, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and work effectively across departments to support operational objectives.

Details of the Role

The Materials Coordinator is responsible for receiving, storing, issuing, moving, and shipping materials while maintaining accurate inventory records. This position supports production scheduling activities by ensuring materials are available when needed and works closely with Purchasing to manage inventory levels and material requirements. Daily activities include processing incoming and outgoing shipments, performing inventory transactions and cycle counts, maintaining material traceability, coordinating material movement throughout the facility, and assisting with planning efforts to support customer and production demands.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Receive, inspect, verify, and process incoming materials, components, and supplies.
  • Package, prepare, and process outbound shipments in accordance with customer and company requirements.
  • Generate and maintain shipping and receiving documentation, including packing slips, bills of lading, and carrier records.
  • Perform inventory transactions and maintain accurate inventory records within the ERP system.
  • Conduct cycle counts and assist with physical inventory activities.
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages, discrepancies, or replenishment needs.
  • Coordinate the movement of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods throughout the facility.
  • Support production scheduling activities by ensuring material availability and timely movement of inventory.
  • Work closely with Purchasing regarding material requirements, supplier deliveries, and inventory concerns.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory, shipping, and receiving discrepancies.
  • Maintain organized inventory locations and material identification systems.
  • Operate material handling equipment as required and authorized.
  • Ensure compliance with company quality standards, inventory procedures, and safety requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory control and material flow.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifying Attributes and Skills
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or related coursework preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in shipping, receiving, inventory control, warehouse operations, materials coordination, or manufacturing support.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of inventory control principles and material management processes.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and inventory transaction processing preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments.
  • Ability to safely operate warehouse and material handling equipment, including forklifts, when certified.
