Job summary

Voyager Technologies is seeking a Material Control Technician onsite in Pueblo, CO to move, stage, and store materials for production in a defense energetics environment. You will handle forklift operations, ensure lot/serial tracking, maintain ERP/MRP records in NetSuite, and uphold explosive material handling and safety protocols.

The Material Control Technician will be located onsite in Pueblo, CO and reports to the Materials & Production Planning Manager. This role is the physical backbone of the materials and production planning function — responsible for the movement, staging, and storage of materials between receiving, warehouse storage areas, and the production floor. Where the Shipping & Receiving Clerk owns the dock and inbound documentation, the Material Handler owns what happens next: getting materials from storage to where they are needed, when they are needed, in the correct quantity and condition to support uninterrupted production. In a defense energetics manufacturing environment, this role demands strict adherence to explosive material handling protocols, lot traceability requirements, and safety procedures at every step of the material movement process.

In this role, the essential functions are:

• Move materials from the receiving area to designated warehouse storage locations following established put-away procedures, bin assignments, and lot/serial tracking requirements.
• Stage materials, components, and kitted parts to production floor work centers in alignment with work order schedules and production priorities communicated by the planning team.
• Pull materials against work orders and bill of materials (BOM) requirements; confirm quantity, lot number, and part number accuracy before staging to production — do not stage unverified materials.
• Coordinate with the Shipping & Receiving Clerk on inbound material handoff after receiving inspection clearance; coordinate with the Quality Senior Receiving Technician on material inspection status before moving materials into active inventory.
• Return unused, excess, or rejected materials to the correct storage location or quarantine area; update ERP/MRP system (NetSuite) inventory transactions accurately for all movements.
• Operate forklift, pallet jack, and other material handling equipment safely and in compliance with site safety requirements; maintain equipment in good working order and report deficiencies immediately.
• Maintain organized, clean, and compliant storage areas — including energetics storage locations — in accordance with ATF, OSHA, and site safety requirements for explosive material storage and handling.
• Support cycle counting and physical inventory activities by accurately counting, confirming, and recording inventory quantities in designated locations.
• Identify and immediately elevate damaged, non-conforming, or mislabeled materials to the Materials & Logistics Coordinator or planning team — do not move suspect materials without authorization.
• Maintain lot and serial number traceability throughout all material movements; ensure no material is staged or issued to production without proper ERP system transaction documentation.
• Follow all Division 1.1 explosives handling protocols, PPE requirements, and site safety procedures at all times when working near or handling energetic materials.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and State and Federal background checks.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses.
• 1–3 years of material handling, warehouse, or production floor experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack; forklift certification required or must be obtained upon hire.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 pounds on a sustained basis throughout the workday.
• High attention to detail — accurate lot tracking and inventory transaction documentation is a compliance requirement, not a preference.
• Ability to read and interpret work orders, bills of materials, and bin location assignments.
• Basic proficiency with ERP/MRP systems for inventory transactions; NetSuite experience a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in defense, aerospace, chemical, energetics, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with lot and serial number traceability requirements in a defense or AS9100-certified manufacturing environment.
• Experience with kitting and staging materials against bill of materials in a production scheduling environment.
• Familiarity with ATF explosive material handling and storage requirements, or willingness to obtain required training upon hire.
• OSHA 10 certification or equivalent safety training a plus.

Travel, Physical and Government Mandated Requirements

• Travel up to 5%, including the possibility of overnights within the continental United States.
• Ability to lift, move, or carry items or equipment up to 50 pounds on a sustained basis throughout the workday. Comfortable standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, and kneeling for extended periods in a manufacturing environment. Use of personal protective equipment required at all times on the production floor and in storage areas.
• Ability to operate a forklift, pallet jack, and other material handling equipment; forklift certification required or must be obtained upon hire.
• Candidates must meet all eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain applicable state and federal explosives licenses, including minimum age requirements (21 and over), a drug‑free workplace in compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 (41 U.S.C. §§ 8101–8106), Executive Order 12564 (Drug-Free Federal Workplace), applicable Department of Defense directives including DoD Instruction 1010.09 and DFARS 252.226-7003, and successful completion of any legally required background investigations.
• To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

The good faith base salary range for this role is $22.00 – $28.00 per hour at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
