Job summary

Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. El Paso seeks a Material Control Planner I to manage mass production raw materials for its wire harness operations. You will balance inventory with production needs, coordinate with vendors, review forecasts, backorders, and expedite orders to avoid production downtime.

This role requires collaboration with plants and warehouses, attention to delivery performance, and proactive communication on ETA, DOH, and supplier issues. Occasional travel may be needed.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree or Technical Certificate required.
• 1-3 years of progressive experience in related field.
• Knowledge of warehouse operations is required.
• Strong analytical, written and oral communication; negotiating skills are essential.
• MS Office proficiency (Word and PowerPoint); Excel is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Review forecast information and vendor backorders; issue supplier delivery notices as needed.
• Provide timely responses with ETA and DOH based on ship history.
• Support supplier invoice payments related to delivery issues and discrepancies.
• Generate forecast and inventory reports; monitor obsolescence and downtime as needed.
• Coordinate meetings and follow up on supplier issues to prevent recurrence.
• Track shipments and assign carriers to prevent plant downtime.
• Travel to manufacturing sites as needed (0–5 days/week).
• Apply Kaizen methods to improve processes and solve problems.
• Perform other duties as required.
