Required four years of experience in coatings application including surface preparation, spray, wipe, and other various application procedures.

Job Description

Performs spray, wipe, brush, or dip, of adhesives or heat application of surface covering to parts and assemblies exercising a complete knowledge of procedures and techniques related to surface preparation.

Performs spray, wipe, or brush applications to aircraft parts, assemblies, and interior or exterior surfaces of completed aircraft, exercising a complete knowledge of surface preparations, material application procedures and techniques, tools, equipment, applicable specifications, and safety regulations. Works to exacting tolerances, following blueprint requirements or engineering directions. Utilizes blueprints to determine masked off areas, stay out areas, materials, and reference documents. Prepares and utilizes test panels to ascertain material thickness.

Sets-up and operates robotic equipment used in the application of materials to surfaces of various sizes, including completed articles. Positions parts/articles in relation to the robotic unit, connects cables and hoses, selects and enters the proper program, mixes material, and monitors operations.

Performs rework, modifications, and touch-ups as needed.

Performs functions on Company premises or at vendor or other off-site locations.

Additional Responsibilities

• Prepares surfaces by cleaning, stripping, sanding, masking, etc.
• Identifies surface imperfections and corrects them using approved procedures.
• Uses precision measuring equipment and shop mathematics.
• Operates air and airless painting equipment, maintains safety devices, and ensures good housekeeping.
• Places parts in drying ovens, monitors temperature and time.
• Checks material expiration and viscosities, mixes materials as required.
• Files, recountersinks, trims, burrs, and operates power sanders.
• May operate company vehicles and computer workstations.
• Must possess necessary certifications.
• Must be able to work any shift.

Desired Skills

• Experience with aircraft paint application.
• Experience with primers, top coats, and other materials.
