Job summary

The City of Longmont seeks a Beginning Master’s Swim Team Coach to oversee practices, mentor participants and deliver stroke development. This role may involve nights, weekends, and holidays and requires valid safety certifications.

Responsibilities include planning workouts, teaching techniques, coordinating meets, and communicating practice updates. Prior coaching experience and first aid, CPR, and lifeguard certifications are preferred to ensure program quality and participant safety.

Qualifications

• Two years of competitive swimming experience, preferably with High School or competitive age group team (USS).
• One year Swim Coaching experience or previous swim instruction.
• Current concussion training for coaches strongly preferred.

• Instruct program participants in proper development of competitive swimming skills and techniques.
• Execute EAPs as necessary; handle basic first aid, CPR and other lifesaving skills.
• Plan, prepare, and attend scheduled practices and meets.
• Routinely communicate swim practice information or changes to participants.
• Maintain and record attendance figures if required.
• Assist with seasonal plans and recruitment.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings.
• Perform essential duties to enhance City attributes.

Definition:

Oversee practices, activities and meets for the Beginning Master’s Swim Team.Provides strokedevelopment to participants. This position can work nights, weekends and holidays.

Principal Duties:

Duties may include but not limited to the following:

• Provide positive leadership and mentorship to program participants.
• Plan and implement a variety of workouts and activities for all levels of the program.
• Instruct program participants in proper development of competitive skills and swimmingtechniques.
• Execute EAP's as necessary. Handle basic first aid, CPR and other lifesaving skills andtechniques certified and trained in. Complete appropriate paperwork when necessaryand submit to immediate supervisor.
• Plan, prepare, and attend scheduled practices and meets.
• Routinely communicate swim practice information or changes to participants.
• Maintain and record accurate attendance figures if required
• Assist with preparation of seasonal plans and goals which can include recruiting.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings and/or trainings.
• Performs essential duties and additional tasks in a manner which enhances CityAttributes.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• A minimum of two years of competitive experience preferably with High School or competitive age group team (U.S.S.) level.
• One year Swim Coachingexperience or previous swim instruction. Current Concussions Training for Coaches stronglypreferred.
• Valid Colorado Drivers License.
• Special Qualifications: Current certification in American Red Cross Community First Aid andSafety, CPR, current American Red Cross Lifeguard, with certification in Safety Training forcoaches preferred.
