Job summary

The Tampa YMCA is seeking a Head Swim Coach to lead the Tampa YMCA Swim Team program across sites. You will develop workouts, recruit swimmers, and ensure safety and compliance with USA Swimming regulations.

This part-time, non-exempt position requires at least 2+ years coaching competitive swimming and supervision experience, with higher priority given to those with related certifications and a willingness to obtain required trainings within set timeframes.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or combination of experience and training.
• A minimum of 2+ years of experience coaching competitive swimming and 1+ year of supervision experience.
• Knowledge of USA Swimming regulations and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, plan and implement workouts and trainings for all sites.
• Supervise practices and dry land trainings, guide Swim Coaches.
• Evaluate swimmer ability and plan improvement strategies.
• Coordinate and execute meet registrations.
• Attend specified competitions, trainings, and events as directed.
• Develop recruitment and retention strategies for athletes across sites.
• Follow safety guidelines per Tampa YMCA and USA Swimming.
• Communicate program information to supervisors, participants and families.
• Encourage sportsmanship among athletes and parents.
• Attend required staff meetings.
• Other duties as assigned.
