Masters Head Coach - Rowing and Sailing (Green Lake Small Craft Center)

Green Lake Small Craft Center is seeking applicants for a Masters Competitive Head Coach beginning in June. The Green Lake Masters Team has grown in size and competitiveness over the past several years, and we see new opportunities to grow this program in our new facility which opened in 2024. Green Lake Small Craft Center is a joint partnership between Seattle Parks Department, Associated Recreation Council, and the Boating Advisory Council.

Location: Green Lake Small Craft Center
Start Date: Beginning of June 2025

Practice Schedule: Year-round, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings at 5:30 am, plus additional planning time, weekend competitions, seasonal staff trainings, and staff meetings. The adult team rows February through early November and trains on land from mid-November through January.

Pay Rate: $26.10 - $32.76 hourly, DOE. This is a part-time, seasonal position.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement training and practice plans with a focus on safety
  • Prepare team for competition
  • Collaborate with other coaches to ensure success for all participants
  • Maintain accurate records per guidelines
  • Potentially work with an assistant coach
  • Evaluate equipment needs
  • Contribute to program growth and outreach, especially to underserved communities
Requirements:
  • Must be 18 or older
  • Proof of legal ability to work in the U.S.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • At least 5 years of competitive rowing experience; coaching experience preferred
  • USRowing Level 2 certification within 6 months of hire
  • CPR & First Aid certification within 1 month of hire
  • Washington Boaters Education certification before season start
  • Ability to pass a 10-minute float test
  • Full-year commitment
  • Trailer driving and rigging experience preferred
