Job summary

Opti Staffing Group in Clackamas, OR is seeking a CNC Moldmaker/Programmer with Mastercam experience to join our precision moldmaking shop. You will program CNC mills, develop 2D and 3D toolpaths, and machine high-precision mold components from complex CAD data.

This full-time role offers overtime as needed, hands-on mentoring from experienced moldmakers, and opportunities to advance expertise in plastic injection, compression, and die cast tooling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience programming CNC machines using Mastercam.
• Minimum 1 year of CNC milling experience in a precision machining environment.
• Strong understanding of shop math, geometry, trigonometry, and machining principles.
• Ability to work from complex CAD data and maintain close tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Program CNC machines using Mastercam (2D & 3D toolpaths required) to machine high-precision mold components from complex CAD models.
• Develop efficient machining strategies including roughing, semi-finishing, and finishing toolpaths.
• Set up and operate CNC mills, including high-speed machining equipment.
• Collaborate in kick-off meetings to plan mold build strategies, programming approaches, and machining sequences.
• Optimize programs for accuracy, surface finish, cycle time, and tool life.
• Prepare and interpret sketches, 2D/3D CAD data, and detailed job instructions.
• Inspect machined components to ensure tight tolerances before releasing to the next stage.
• Complete documentation and paperwork for mold assembly and job tracking.
• Operate multiple machines and assist with shop support tasks such as shipping/receiving when needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safety-focused work environment.
• Communicate machine issues, tooling needs, and workflow updates to supervisors and team members.
