Job summary

PTI Tech in Clifton, NJ is seeking a motivated CNC Machinist/Programmer to program, set up, and operate 3-axis CNC milling machines for close-tolerance mold components. You will develop and optimize CNC programs using Mastercam and interpret 3D CAD data with SolidWorks.

Work includes running Mikron Mill S 500 and Haas VM2, performing hard milling on tool steels and graphite electrodes, and inspecting parts with precision tooling. Training is available for the right candidate.

• Hands-on experience setting up and running CNC milling machines.

• Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry 40 lbs or more.

Responsibilities

• Program complex 3-axis tool paths using Mastercam for mold components and electrodes.
• Interpret models with SolidWorks and support programming requirements.
• Set up and operate CNC mills, including Mikron Mill S 500 and Haas VM2.
• Perform hard milling and high-speed machining on hardened tool steels with close tolerances.
• Manufacture precision graphite electrodes for EDM processes.
• Inspect finished components using precision measurement tools to verify dimensional accuracy.
• Maintain proper tooling, fixtures, machine cleanliness, and work area organization.
• Collaborate with Mold Makers and Engineers to ensure part accuracy and manufacturability.
• Follow all company and OSHA safety policies.

Job description

The CNC Machinist/Programmer is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating high-precision CNC milling equipment to manufacture close-tolerance components for injection molds. This role involves creating and optimizing CNC programs, producing high-quality parts in hardened tool steels and graphite, and supporting the Polmold Tool Room in mold manufacturing and repair. Mold-making experience is preferred, and training is available for the right candidate.

Essential Functions:

• Program complex 3-axis tool paths usingMastercamfor mold components and electrodes.
• UtilizeSolidWorksto interpret models, prepare geometry, and support programming requirements.
• Set up and operate CNC mills, including:

Required Experience and Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Mastercam for CNC programming.

• Understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, speeds/feeds, and high-precision finishing.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce parts to tight tolerances.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience running Mikron Mill S 500 and/or Haas VM2.
• Background in hard milling or high-speed machining.
• Experience in machining hardened tool steels and graphite electrodes.
• Exposure to mold making, mold components, or Tool Room environments.
• Ability to work independently on complex setups and multi-operation parts.
