Job summary

GSA’s Public Buildings Service, White House Service Center in Washington, DC, seeks a skilled Wood Crafter to perform cabinet work, frames, paneling, mouldings, and related carpentry tasks in the carpenter shop.

You will construct and repair cabinets and display cases, matching woods and finishes while using woodworking machines, portable tools, and hand tools. Adherence to quality and deadlines is required.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair.
• Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (blueprint reading).
• A Measurement and Layout.
• Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment.
• Knowledge of Materials.

Responsibilities

• Perform cabinet work in the White House carpenter shop, including door/window frames, panels, baseboards, mouldings.
• Construct and repair cabinets, bookcases, conference tables, stands, and display cases.
• Duplicate and repair wood surfaces by matching woods, grains, and surfaces.
• Operate powered machines, portable electric tools, and hand tools used in cabinet making.
• Meet quality standards, production quotas, and time deadlines as delegated by leadership.
