Job summary

Eaton is seeking a Master Technician - R&D for its Advanced Technology team in the Protection, Control and Solutions group. The role is based at the Moon Township, PA office and involves prototyping, lab validation, and data analysis.

You will work with engineers to build prototypes, operate lab equipment, and drive project closures with innovation and collaboration. Strong mechanical/electro-mechanical background preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with experience; degree requirements stated.
• 3+ years in product development with mechanical/electro-mechanical products.
• Eaton will not sponsor immigration visas for this role and no relocation benefit is offered; candidates within 50 miles of Moon Township, PA eligible.

Responsibilities

• Understand mechanical drawings and assembly docs; collaborate with Engineering to build prototypes.
• Use hand/power tools to assemble engineering samples and test fixtures.
• Fabricate parts using approved machinery/methods.
• Prepare and validate lab tests under project guidance.
• Collect and plot test data clearly and consistently.
• Operate standard lab equipment with full procedural knowledge.
• Lead assignments and drive closure with invention and creativity.
• Coordinate purchasing for new development lab equipment.
• Maintain and calibrate test equipment as needed.
• Support onsite product validation tests using approved devices.
• Participate in team meetings and report progress regularly.
• Ensure safety, quality, and documentation compliance throughout.

Due to business growth Eaton’s EPG CPD Circuit Protection Division is adding a Master Technician - R&D to its Advanced Technology team within the Electrical Sector’s “Protection, Control and Solutions” group. This role will take place out of our office in Moon Twp, PA (Pittsburgh area).

The expected annual salary range for this role is $69000 - $101000 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

What You’ll Do

• Understand mechanical drawings and mechanical assembly documentation while working with Engineering Team to properly build prototypes

• Fabricate parts using approved machinery and methods.
• Prepare lab validation tests at the direction of project engineering team.
• Collect, record, and plot test data in an organized fashion.
• Establish a working knowledge of standard test procedures. Fully understands the capabilities, use, and care of available lab equipment.
• Conduct onsite product validation tests using approved test devices and procedures.
• Lead, direct, coordinate, and bring successful closure to distinct assignments. Use invention, imagination, creativity, and resourcefulness during the course of assigned work.
• Plan and coordinate purchasing through installation of new equipment infrastructure for development test labs based on test requirements or gaps in testing capabilities.
• Maintain equipment by coordinating or driving repairs or calibration.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution OR Associate's Degree with at least 3 years of experience OR a High School Diploma/GED with at least 5 years of experience.
• Three years of experience working in a product development environment with mechanical or electo-mechanical products.

Preferred Qualifications

• Five years of experience with electrical product development, including testing, and data collection
• At least 1 year of experience working with high current, high voltage sources.
• At least 1 year of experience working with oscilloscopes and electrical power supplies and loads.
