GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Master Stylist engages with guests, consults on their hair care needs, and recommends products and services. They deliver quality professional services focused on the guest’s overall look, supporting the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) by emphasizing performance, guest service, and adherence to operating procedures and standards. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service skills, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge are essential.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Master Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, demonstrating them consistently through:
Performance
- Perform hair services including design, cuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
- Meet or exceed an average weekly sales goal of $1250 and productivity targets, delivering exceptional guest service and contributing to store sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
- Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
- Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver an outstanding guest experience.
- Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and be knowledgeable about their ingredients and benefits.
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
People
- Develop relationships through consultations and tailored retail and service recommendations.
- Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
- Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams to provide a comprehensive store experience.
- Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional guest service.
- Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
- Attend mandatory training and meetings for ongoing professional development.
Process
- Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, complying with state guidelines.
- Adhere to established service protocols for consistency and quality.
- Use booking and client management systems to schedule and maintain client relationships.
- Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
- Maintain cleanliness and operational standards of the store environment.
- Follow dress code policies.
- Protect company assets through loss prevention practices and excellent guest service.
- Perform other operational duties as assigned.

- Relevant previous work experience required

- Proficiency in current salon techniques across various services or a strong aptitude to develop these skills.
- Familiarity with equipment and chemicals used in technical services.
