GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality services focusing on the guest’s overall look, support the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, people, and process focus, and possess a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, performing duties including:

Performance

• Perform hair services such as design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing.
• Achieve or surpass weekly sales goals of $1250 and productivity targets, delivering excellent guest service and contributing to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrinkage goals.
• Conduct product demonstrations to boost sales and enhance guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits to guests.
• Maintain consistent attendance.

People

• Develop guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serve all guests promptly and efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams to provide comprehensive guest experiences.
• Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional service.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols for consistent guest experiences.
• Use booking and client management systems effectively.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the salon and store areas.
• Adhere to the dress code.
• Follow loss prevention practices and provide excellent guest service.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Cosmetology license

Experience: Previous relevant work experience required

Skills: Proficiency in salon techniques, equipment, product sales, communication, teamwork, and client relationship building.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Mobility, lifting up to 10 lbs, bending, reaching, twisting, standing for long periods, and manipulating objects during shift.
