GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality professional services focused on the guest’s total look, supporting the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through performance, people, and process. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)

The Master Stylist demonstrates Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through the following duties and all other assigned projects:

Performance

• Perform hair services including design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Achieve or surpass a weekly sales goal of $1250 and productivity targets through excellent guest service and contributing to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
• Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits to guests.
• Maintain regular, prompt attendance.

People

• Build guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Establish professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional service.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures, adhering to state board guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols for consistent, exceptional guest experiences.
• Use booking and client management systems effectively for scheduling and follow-up.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards across the store.
• Adhere to the Ulta Beauty dress code.
• Follow loss prevention practices and provide excellent guest service to protect assets.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.
