GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality services focused on the guest’s total look, supporting the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) with performance, people, and process responsibilities. A passion for the beauty industry, excellent guest service, and product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist demonstrates Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through:

Performance

• Performing various hair services including cuts, color, styling, treatments, and makeup applications.
• Achieving or exceeding a weekly sales goal of $1250 through exceptional guest service and contributing to store sales, loyalty, and shrink reduction.
• Conducting product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Supporting in-store events and marketing initiatives.
• Staying informed on industry trends and product benefits.
• Maintaining consistent attendance.

People

• Building guest relationships through consultations and recommendations.
• Serving all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Partnering with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Fostering professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
• Promoting the guest loyalty program and Ulta Beauty app.
• Attending training and meetings for professional development.

Process

• Ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and standards.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Cosmetology license

Experience: Relevant previous work experience

Skills: Proficiency in salon techniques, equipment, product sales, communication, independence, teamwork, and client relationship building.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Mobility, lifting up to 10 lbs., bending, reaching, twisting, and standing for long periods.
