GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on their hair care needs, recommending products and services, and delivering quality professional services focused on the guest’s total look. They support the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through performance, people, and process excellence. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and strong product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist embodies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values by performing the following duties (and other assigned tasks):

Performance

• Perform a variety of hair services including design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Achieve or surpass a weekly sales goal of $1250 through exceptional guest service and contribute to store sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
• Demonstrate products to guests to enhance sales and service experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to elevate guest experience.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits effectively.
• Maintain consistent attendance.

People

• Build guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serve all guests promptly and efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams to provide comprehensive guest care.
• Establish professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional service.
• Promote loyalty programs and app benefits to guests.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols in accordance with regulations.
• Adhere to established service protocols for consistent guest experiences.
• Use booking and client management systems effectively.
• Report supply needs to the Experience Manager.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in all work areas.
• Follow the dress code and protect company assets.
• Perform additional operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Cosmetology license required.

Experience: Prior relevant work experience required.

• Proficiency in the latest salon techniques across all service categories.
• Ability to operate salon equipment and chemicals safely.
• Skill in demonstrating and selling hair care and makeup products.
