GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality professional services focused on the guest’s overall look, supporting the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager by emphasizing performance, guest service, and adherence to operating procedures. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, performing duties including:

Performance

• Performing hair services such as design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Achieving or exceeding a weekly sales goal of $1250 through excellent guest service and contributing to store sales, loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
• Conducting product demonstrations to boost sales and enhance guest experience.
• Supporting in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Staying informed on industry trends, products, and services, and understanding their ingredients and benefits.
• Maintaining regular attendance.

People

• Building guest relationships through consultations and recommendations.
• Serving all guests promptly and efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborating with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Fostering professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
• Promoting the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attending mandatory trainings and meetings for professional development.

Process

• Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Following safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols per state guidelines.
• Adhering to service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
• Using booking systems to schedule guests and events.
• Communicating supply needs to the Experience Manager.
• Maintaining store cleanliness and operational standards.
• Following the dress code and protecting assets through loss prevention practices.
• Performing other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Cosmetology license required.

Experience

• Relevant prior work experience required.

• Proficiency in salon techniques, equipment, and chemicals; ability to develop skills across service categories.
• Ability to demonstrate and sell professional hair care and makeup products.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS
