GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs, recommending products and services, and delivering quality professional services focused on the guest’s total look. They support the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) by emphasizing performance, guest service, and process adherence. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge are essential.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Master Stylist demonstrates Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through:
Performance
- Performing hair services like design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (if applicable).
- Achieving or exceeding a weekly sales goal of $1250 through excellent guest service and contributing to store sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
- Conducting product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
- Supporting in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
- Staying informed on industry trends, products, and services, and understanding their ingredients and benefits.
- Maintaining regular attendance.
People
- Building guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
- Serving all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
- Collaborating with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
- Fostering professional relationships with peers and brand partners for exceptional service.
- Promoting the guest loyalty program, including credit and app benefits.
- Attending mandatory training and meetings for ongoing professional development.
Process
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Following safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
- Following established service protocols for consistent guest experiences.
- Using booking systems to schedule return appointments and events.
- Communicating supply needs to the Experience Manager.
- Maintaining cleanliness and operational standards within the store.
- Adhering to the dress code and loss prevention practices.
- Performing other operational tasks as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Cosmetology license
Experience: Relevant prior work experience required
Skills:
- Proficiency in latest salon techniques across all service categories.
- Ability to operate salon equipment and chemicals safely.
- Skill in recommending and selling professional products.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Capability to build and maintain client relationships.
