GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality professional services focusing on the guest’s total look, supporting the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, people, and process. A passion for the beauty industry, excellent guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, performing duties including:

Performance

• Perform various hair services such as design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (if applicable).
• Achieve or surpass a weekly sales goal of $1250 through exceptional guest service and contribute to store sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink reduction.
• Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
• Maintain regular attendance.

People

• Develop relationships with guests through consultations and recommendations.
• Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams to provide comprehensive guest experiences.
• Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and app benefits.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures, adhering to state guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols for consistency.
• Use booking and client management systems effectively.
• Report supply needs to the Experience Manager.
• Maintain store cleanliness and operational standards.
• Adhere to the dress code and protect company assets.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Cosmetology license

Experience: Prior relevant work experience required

Skills:

• Proficiency in the latest salon techniques across all service categories and ability to develop skills further.
• Proficiency with salon equipment and chemicals.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Capability to build and maintain client relationships.

SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Mobility and ability to stand long periods.
• Ability to lift and move up to 10 lbs.
• Frequent bending, reaching, and twisting.

The pay range is $16.50 - $22.90/hour or service-based pay, depending on various factors.
