GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs, recommending products and services, and delivering quality professional services focused on the guest’s total look. They support the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance (service sales, productivity), people (guest service), and process (operating procedures and compliance). This role requires passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist exemplifies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through the following duties and responsibilities (as well as all other assigned tasks):

Performance

• Perform hair services including design, cuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Achieve or exceed a weekly sales goal of $1250 and productivity targets for hair services by providing exceptional guest service and contributing to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
• Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and be knowledgeable about their ingredients and benefits.
• Maintain punctual, regular attendance.

People

• Develop guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Partner with skin therapists and retail teams to provide a comprehensive guest experience.
• Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional service.
• Promote guest loyalty programs, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols for consistency and excellence.
• Use booking and client management systems to schedule services and events.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain store cleanliness and operational standards.
• Adhere to the dress code.
• Follow loss prevention practices and provide excellent guest service.
• Perform operational tasks as assigned.

Job Qualifications

Education: Cosmetology license

Experience: Prior relevant work experience required

Skills: Proficiency in salon techniques, equipment, chemicals, product sales, communication, teamwork, and client relationship building.

Working Conditions
