GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver high-quality professional services focused on the guest’s overall look, support the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through performance, people, and process, and demonstrate a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist embodies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through the following duties and responsibilities:

Performance

• Perform a variety of hair services including design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Achieve or surpass a weekly sales goal of $1250 through exceptional guest service, contributing to store sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
• Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to deliver an outstanding guest experience.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, understanding their ingredients and benefits to better serve guests.
• Maintain consistent attendance.

People

• Develop strong guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serve all guests promptly and efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams to provide comprehensive guest services.
• Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend required trainings and meetings for ongoing professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols for consistent guest experiences.
• Use booking and client management systems effectively.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards across the store.
• Adhere to the dress code and loss prevention practices.
• Perform additional operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Cosmetology license

Experience: Previous relevant work experience required

Skills:

• Proficiency in latest salon techniques across all service categories and ability to develop skills further.
• Proficiency with salon equipment and chemicals.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
• Strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to build and maintain customer relationships and clientele.
