General Summary & Scope
The Master Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. Delivers high-quality professional services focused on the guest’s overall look. Supports the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, guest service, and adherence to operating procedures. Must have a passion for the beauty industry, excellent guest service skills, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
Performance
- Perform a variety of hair services including design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
- Achieve or exceed a weekly sales goal of $1250 and meet productivity targets for hair services by providing exceptional guest service and contributing to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
- Conduct product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
- Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to enhance guest experience.
- Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services, and be knowledgeable about their benefits to better serve guests.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
People
- Build guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
- Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
- Collaborate with skin therapists and retail team for a comprehensive guest experience.
- Establish professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional service.
- Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
- Attend mandatory training and meetings for professional development.
Process
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, complying with state guidelines.
- Adhere to service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
- Use booking and client management systems effectively.
- Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager.
- Maintain cleanliness and operational standards of the salon and store areas.
- Follow dress code policies.
- Follow loss prevention practices and provide excellent guest service.
- Perform other operational tasks as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Education
- Cosmetology license required.
Experience
- Relevant work experience required.
Skills
- Proficiency in latest salon techniques across all service categories and ability to develop skills further.
- Knowledge of equipment, chemicals, and product recommendations.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to build and maintain client relationships.

- Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Working Conditions
