GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Master Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. They deliver quality professional services focusing on the guest’s total look. They support the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) through performance, people, and process, requiring a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)
The Master Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, performing duties including:
Performance
- Perform hair services such as design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (if applicable).
- Meet or exceed a weekly sales goal of $1250 and productivity targets through exceptional guest service, contributing to store sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink reduction.
- Conduct product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
- Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
- Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and understand their ingredients and benefits.
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
People
- Develop guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
- Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
- Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams to provide comprehensive guest experiences.
- Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners for collaborative guest service.
- Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
- Attend mandatory training and meetings for professional development.
Process
- Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
- Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
- Follow established service protocols for consistent, exceptional guest experiences.
- Use booking and clientele systems to schedule return services and events.
- Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager.
- Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the store.
- Adhere to dress code and protect company assets.
- Perform other operational tasks as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Experience
- Relevant prior work experience required
Skills
- Proficiency in salon techniques for haircutting, coloring, styling, treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing; willingness to develop skills in all service categories.
- Proficiency with equipment and chemicals used in technical work.
- Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Continuous mobility, lifting (up to 10 lbs.), bending, reaching, twisting, and standing for long periods.
- Ability to manipulate objects continuously during shift.
