GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Master Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, recommends products and services, and delivers quality professional services focused on the guest’s total look. They support the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, people, and process focus. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge are essential.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Master Stylist champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, performing duties including:
Performance
- Performing hair services: design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (if applicable).
- Meeting or exceeding weekly sales goals of $1250 and productivity targets for hair services, contributing to store sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
- Conducting product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
- Supporting in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
- Staying informed on industry trends, products, and services to better serve guests.
- Maintaining regular attendance.
People
- Developing guest relationships through consultations and recommendations.
- Serving all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
- Collaborating with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
- Building professional relationships with peers and brand partners.
- Promoting guest loyalty programs and apps.
- Attending mandatory training and meetings for professional development.
Process
- Ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and standards.
- Following safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures, adhering to state guidelines.
- Following established service protocols for consistency.
- Using booking and client systems effectively.
- Communicating supply needs to the Experience Manager.
- Maintaining cleanliness and store standards.
- Adhering to dress code and loss prevention practices.
- Executing other operational tasks as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Cosmetology license required.
Experience
- Previous relevant work experience required.
Skills
- Proficiency in salon techniques (haircutting, coloring, styling, treatments, extensions, makeup, ear piercing) or ability to develop these skills.
- Proficiency with salon equipment and chemicals.
- Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell hair care and makeup products.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Ability to build and maintain client relationships and clientele.
SPECIAL POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Mobility, lifting up to 10 lbs, bending, reaching, twisting, and standing for long periods.
