GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality professional services focusing on the guest’s total look. Supporting the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager, they focus on performance, people, and process, requiring a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist embodies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through the following duties (and other assigned tasks):

Performance

• Perform hair services: design, cuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Achieve or surpass weekly sales goals of $1250 and meet productivity targets by providing exceptional guest service and supporting retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
• Demonstrate products to guests to enhance sales and service experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to enhance guest experience.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits to guests.
• Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.

People

• Develop guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional service.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app.
• Attend mandatory training and meetings for professional development.

Process

• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
• Adhere to established service protocols for a consistent guest experience.
• Use booking and client management systems effectively.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in the store.
• Follow the dress code and protect company assets.
• Perform other operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Cosmetology license required.

Experience

• Relevant work experience required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The pay range is $16.50 - $22.90/hour or service pay, based on various factors.
