GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE

The Master Stylist engages with guests, consulting on their hair care needs and recommending products and services. They deliver quality professional services focused on the guest’s overall look, supporting the Experience Manager (SM) and Assistant Services Manager (ASM) by emphasizing performance, guest service, and adherence to operating procedures and standards. A passion for the beauty industry, excellent guest service skills, and a willingness to learn product knowledge are essential.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The Master Stylist embodies Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through the following duties:

Performance

• Perform various hair services including design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing (where applicable).
• Achieve or surpass a weekly sales goal of $1250, contributing to store goals in retail, services, guest loyalty, and shrink reduction.
• Demonstrate products to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives to provide an exceptional guest experience.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits effectively to guests.
• Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.

People

• Build guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
• Serve all guests efficiently, including walk-ins.
• Collaborate with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
• Establish professional relationships with peers and brand partners to ensure collaborative service delivery.
• Promote the guest loyalty program and Ulta Beauty app.
• Participate in mandatory training and professional development activities.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
• Follow established service protocols for consistency and quality.
• Use booking systems to schedule and manage guest appointments.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager to ensure guest readiness.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards within the store.
• Adhere to the dress code and loss prevention practices.
• Perform additional operational tasks as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Cosmetology license

Experience: Relevant work experience required
