GENERAL SUMMARY & SCOPE
The Master Stylist engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, recommends products and services, and delivers quality professional services focused on the guest’s total look. Supports the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager through performance, people, and process focus. A passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge are essential.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Performance
- Performing hair services such as design, cuts, color, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing.
- Achieving or surpassing a weekly sales goal of $1250 and meeting productivity targets for hair services, retail, and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrinkage.
- Conducting product demonstrations to enhance sales and guest experience.
- Supporting in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
- Staying informed on industry trends, products, and services, and understanding their ingredients and benefits.
- Maintaining regular attendance.
People
- Developing guest relationships through consultations and tailored recommendations.
- Serving all guests promptly and efficiently, including walk-ins.
- Collaborating with skin therapists and retail teams for a comprehensive guest experience.
- Building professional relationships with peers and brand partners to deliver exceptional service.
- Promoting the guest loyalty program, credit options, and the Ulta Beauty app.
- Attending required training and meetings for professional development.
Process
- Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Following safety, sanitation, and infection control protocols, adhering to state guidelines.
- Following service protocols for consistency and quality.
- Using booking and client management systems effectively.
- Communicating supply needs to the Experience Manager.
- Maintaining cleanliness and operational standards in the store.
- Adhering to the dress code.
- Protecting assets through loss prevention practices.
- Performing other operational tasks as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Cosmetology license.
Experience: Relevant prior work experience required.
Skills:
- Proficiency in current salon techniques across all service categories.
- Familiarity with salon equipment and chemicals.
- Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell products.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Building and maintaining client relationships.
